The Tree Of life: Hollywood Or The Bible

Well the 2012 Oscar nominations are out for best picture and the movie "The Tree of Life" is one of the favorites to win. No doubt it is a favorite because Brad Pitt and Sean Penn are starring in this flick. As I have said on numerous occasions, I believe we are living in the last days and that it would behoove every human being to make sure they have found forgiveness through the work of Jesus Christ. Anyway, I found it very ironic that in these end times we have a Oscar level movie called the Tree of Life. Here is an excerpt from a  review by the New York Times back in May of 2011...

The Day of Judgment, prophesied for last weekend, has apparently been postponed, but moviegoers eager for rapture can find consolation — to say nothing of awe, amazement and grist for endless argument — in “The Tree of Life,” Terrence Malick’s new film, which contemplates human existence from the standpoint of eternity. Recently showered with temporal glory at the Cannes Film Festival, where it won the Palme d’Or, this movie, Mr. Malick’s fifth feature in 38 years, folds eons of cosmic and terrestrial history into less than two and a half hours. Its most provocative sequences envision the origin of the universe, the development of life on earth (including a few soulful dinosaurs) and then, more concisely and less literally, the end of time, when the dead of all the ages shall rise and walk around on a heavenly beach.

It's amazing that in two hours Hollywood will attempt to tell us about the universe, eternity,  life and the end of time but will mock and ridicule Bible believing Christians for warning people of the judgement to come! No, the Tree of Life is not to be found in the movies but in the Bible. The phrase is found 10 times in Scripture, it is first found in Genesis 2 and found the last time in Revelation 22.

Genesis 2:9

King James Version (KJV)

9And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

Revelation 22:2

King James Version (KJV)

2In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

The tree of life is found in the Garden of Eden and the Heavenly City, the New Jerusalem. The tree of life is a "type" or a "shadow" of the Lord Jesus Christ. If one would desire eternal life and forgiveness of sin they must turn to Christ and trust in what He did on the cross to be payment for their sins. How bizarre that a movie is named after the Redeemer and Saviour! Awe and amazement are found in Jesus not Hollywood. Make sure you have found the real Tree of Life!

Focus On The Family Siezes The Forgiveness Opportunity!

In my last post I pointed out the undeniable truth that Tim Tebow is having an impact on this wicked world for the cause of Christ. After beating the Pittsburg Steelers Tim Tebow's influence inspired over 90 million people to "Google" John 3:16 the following Monday. That is a ton of searches and it didn't go unnoticed by the folks at Focus On The Family. They decided that they needed to take advantage of this interest in God's promise of eternal life by making a short video for airplay during the Bronco vs. Patriot game. They filmed their own children and the camera crew member's children to make an amazing video that millions watched on January 14th. Here it is...
That was amazing wasn't it? The simple promise made by Jesus Himself that those who simply believe in Him for their eternal life will be given the glories of Heaven and the assurance of forgiveness. I was in a room of about 8 people who were not watching the game but I noticed the ad and alerted others. It was a powerful 40 seconds. My hat is off to Focus On The Family and Tim Tebow! Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved today and you can exclaim with that little girl...WOW!

Tim Tebow, John 3:16 And Forgiveness

Tim Tebow is a polarizing public figure. You either love him or despise him. I'm a Raider fan and have always disliked the Denver Broncos but a higher purpose has caused me to admire Tim Tebow. You see, Tim and I have something in common...no I'm not athletic, a quarterback nor do I live in Denver. Tim and I are fellow believers in the Lord Jesus Christ. Christ has forgiven Tim and me! It's interesting that Tim Tebow put John 3:16 on his eye blacking before the game against the Steelers. Monday the number one search item on Google was John 3:16!! I think that God has given Tim Tebow a unique stage in these last days and Tim is taking advantage of the opportunity by pointing others to the forgiveness that lies only in Jesus.
Amazingly, Tebow threw for 316 yards against the Steelers. Did you get that? Three hundred and sixteen...3:16! Even more amazing is the fact that his average yardage per pass was 31.6!!! I think there is something truly supernatural at work in Tebow's life and football performances. I think God is sending  not too subtle clues to an entertainment crazed world that His Word is true and that He is anxious to forgive all who will come to Him through His Son. Do I think the Broncos will win the Super Bowl? Well, I don't know and I don't gamble either but I do know this...John 3:16 is Tim Tebow's favorite verse and it is one of mine. When Jesus spoke those words to Nicodemus they were true then and they are true now! Have you believed upon Jesus as your Saviour? If not, watch the short video in the right sidebar and if you trust Christ today let me know I'll send you some literature to help you in your new walk with the Lord!
