Am I Going To Heaven? You Can Be Sure! Some people THINK if they do these things they will make it into Heaven:
All of these make (some) sense, but is this what the Bible teaches about the gift of God and knowing you have eternal life? There is nothing more wonderful in life than discovering God's plan for eternal life, and you can KNOW for certain that you will spend eternity with God. ETERNAL LIFE REALLY IS A GIFT... The Bibles says, "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; It is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast" (Ephesians 2:8,9). "Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us" (Titus 3:5). There is not one thing you can do to earn a place in Heaven. It is free! You can do nothing to earn eternal life. It is faith in the Lord Jesus Christ alone that will get you to Heaven. WE HAVE A PROBLEM... The Bible says, "For all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23). God is holy and righteous. We have missed the mark of God's perfection and fallen short of the target. "For the wages (something we earn) of sin is death (eternal separation from God)..." (Romans 6:23). We all deserve the punishment for sin. Fortunately, there is more to verse 23, "but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." That's why John the Baptist introduced Jesus to the world when he said, "...Behold! The Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world" (John 1:29). JESUS CHRIST IS THE SOLUTION... The Person of Jesus Christ: The Bible says, "...What must I do to be saved?... Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved..." (Acts 16:30-31). We are saved by Someone, the Lord Jesus Christ. Not just anyone, but God who became man (John1:1-14). He is the Son of God (John 20:31). The Provision of Jesus Christ: The Bible says, "For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried (proof that He died), and that He rose again the third day according to the Scripture, and that He was seen (proof of the resurrection) by (many)..." (1 Corinthians 15:3,4). "But God demonstrates (proved) His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8). "For He (God) made Him (Christ) who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him" (2 Corinthians 5:21). "But to him who does not work, but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness" (Romans 4:5). You don’t get to Heaven by being good. You have to be perfect. On the cross, Jesus Christ died for everything you have ever done wrong or ever will do wrong. He has removed the barrier of sin. His death paid the penalty for our sins and His resurrection made eternal life possible to all who believe in Him alone. The Promise of Jesus Christ: "For God so loved the world (you), that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever ______________________ your name BELIEVES in HIM (Jesus Christ) should not perish, but have everlasting life" (John 3:16). "These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life..." (1 John 5:13). Do you believe in Jesus Christ? If you do, on the authority of God's word, you can KNOW you have eternal life. ETERNAL LIFE IS ETERNAL... The Bible says, "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me (Christ) has everlasting life" (John 6:47). "And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish, neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand" (John 10:28). Eternal life is more than a quality of life that's filled with joy. It is life that never ends. Jesus would have given it a different name if you could lose it. He gives eternal life to all who believe in Him. FAITH ALONE IN CHRIST ALONE Doesn't it make sense to believe on the One who came back from the dead and trust Him for eternal life? "...What must I do to be saved?... Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved..." (Acts 16:30-31). |
