The Angel Answered The Question Of How To Be Forgiven

Luke 2
8And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with fear. 10And the angel said to them, "Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. 11For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. 12And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger." 13And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying,
14 "Glory to God in the highest,
and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!"
Christmas can be a very hectic time of the year. We can get all caught up in the commercial side of the season and spend all of our emotional energy and money on gifts. We could get caught up in some of the uncomfortable family dynamics that are amplified during this "joyous season". Many will be reminded of loved ones lost during 2011. There are a lot of potential distractions that can take our eyes off of the prize.
The prize, of course, is the Lord Jesus Christ! The angel of the Lord  was well aware of the magnificent gift that had come to planet earth when he made his exciting announcement to those shepherds long ago. He had been in His presence in Heaven and witnessed His miraculous power everyday. The Bible tells us that angels long to look (I Peter 1:12) into this amazing story of how God pitied mortal sinners and sent His Son to die for our sins. They find it to be simply incredible that the King of Glory actually came to be with us so that we might become forgiven and adopted into His family and enjoy the privileges of being children of God. It's no wonder that he described this announcement as "good news of great joy". Sadly, most of the world has not grasped the wonder that the angel possessed. They have not found the coming of Jesus as good news because they have not trusted Him to be Savior and Redeemer. I hope that this Christmas you will celebrate as one who has found forgiveness from your sins. Take a moment to view the short video in the right side bar of this blog. My Christmas wish for you is that you might be saved, forgiven, redeemed and adopted into God's family by believing in His Son!

Survey Gives Insight Into American's Concept Of Sin

A survey done in 2008 by Ellison Research revealed several things about the way Americans view sin. For example, nearly 87% of the 1000 participants believe in the general concept of sin. Most of those questioned believe in degrees of sin. The general concept held by those surveyed defined sin as "something that is almost always considered wrong, particularly from a religous or moral perspective." Those who believe in sin identified adultery as sin (81%), 74% named racism, 65% hard drugs, 52% homosexuality and 56% said abortion is a sin.
There is a good bit of accuracy in these views about sin but the main problem is that the findings were not as all encompassing as they should have been. The Bible views sin in a much more sweeping manner, listen to the Bible definition of sin...
I John 3:4

4Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
Here is how it works, anytime you break one of God's laws it is sin. Once you sin you are a law breaker and it is as if you had broken all of God's laws. If you have broken one of the 10 commandments then you might as well have broken them all in God's view of sin.
James 2:10
10For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.
Furthermore, I don't need a survey to tell me whether I've sinned or not, the Bible has already done that and I have no argument against God's Word.
Romans 3
10As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
11There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.
12They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
23For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
You can express your opinion on sin, that's fine, but the only opinion that counts is God's! We have a big problem, we are sinners who lack the righteousness to get into Heaven and we have a criminal record that will condemn us to Hell. That is what we call a "predicament."
If you have been reading my blog for any time at all you know that the solution to this mess is a Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ! Watch the video in the right side bar entitled "How To Be Forgiven in 3 Minutes". Trust Jesus today!
